About Andheri Sports Complex
Andheri Sports Complex recreation club has been catering to various sports services since 1988. It is a multi-purpose sports club offering many indoor and outdoor sports and sports facilities. Located on Veera Desai Road in Andheri (West), Mumbai, it is also known as Shahaji Raje Krida Sankul.
Today, Andheri Sports Complex is used for both state as well as national level sports tournaments like Squash, Boxing, Tennis and Karate. The complex houses an Olympic size swimming pool and a diving pool with 4 diving levels. The Pools are equipped with chlorine filtration system. Another name of the pool is Shahaji Raje Krida Sankul Jalataran Talav and is maintained by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Swimming classes, short and long distance swimming competitions of state level and national level are held here. The club is operational on all days except for Mondays and National holidays and it offers monthly and yearly packages at affordable rates.
The Andheri Sports Complex holds a number of social and informal programmes on its sprawling ground. From shooting of Bollywood movies, to hosting star-studded award ceremonies to even Michael Jackson performing, this complex has seen it all.
Inaugurated by legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, the BMC started World Cup cricket gallery here for public viewing in January 2012. The gallery showcases statues of the Indian players who were a part of the teams that won the Cricket World Cups for India in 1983 and 2011 along with memorabilia like autographed cricket bats, cricket kits and photographs.
